Tell yourself the truth
I dare you.
And no, today we’re not gonna focus only on the “hold yourself accountable when you’re wrong” spiel.
I mean ALL the time. Including when you’ve done good.
When you handle a situation well, tell yourself,
“Kuku you badass, you did good!”
When you did something you said you would do, go ahead and tell yourself,
“you're getting better at this integrity thing boy!”
And then throw in a compliment there too.
It's not humility to lie to yourself about your good work.
“Oh I'm not that great. Oh it’s not that big a deal, oh, that old thing.”
Everytime you belittle work you’ve done to appear modest and humble, you’ve lied to yourself but worse than that, you’ve taught yourself that it’s okay to believe a lie.
And so when that lying voice that tells you you’re worthless and to end it all since you will never make it starts whispering to you, guess what, it will become much easier to listen to it. Because you’re used to lies and they’re so familiar your mind has learned to embrace them without question. The truth is so far from you that even when people try to pull you up by telling you the truth, you fight it because believing good about yourself has become so strange.
Don't do that to yourself. Don't distort the truth just to sound modest.
If you play a mean guitar, say you do. If you have a beautiful soprano voice or you’re good at organizing stuff, say it. If you have great taste in fashion or are a really cool writer. Like if you would commend the work you do on somebody else, don’t bash it or make it look small just cos it's you who did it.
Tell yourself the truth and soon you will find yourself bolder to believe in yourself and go after your dreams.

I'm in love 😍
So glad I didn't ignore
Today, I choose to congratulate myself for holding space to heal and recover from hurt.
And yes, I'm a badass for helping myself navigate through a really challenging time.
For practicing patience when everything felt like it was hitting at once.
For choosing to smile, even when I didn’t feel like it.
D’you know I’m a badass for that helpful conversation I had with a colleague yesterday?
It felt so good to hear myself say things that even surprised me.
And I thought “Wow, yum… this feels really good.”
Today, I choose to tell myself well done for every time I chose differently.
Each time I chose love instead of hate.
Each timeI chose to show up better.
Every single time I paused to reflect, instead of reacting.
And each time I opened Kuku’s GM and really sat with it, instead of scrolling past.
Yes, I’m a badass.
And that’s the truth I choose to tell myself today.
