MEDITATION I
WHY DOES MY LIFE SEEM STAGNANT ?
There is a time and season for everything under the sun, so says the wise King.
.
.
But somehow we seem to gloss over the fact that this applies to humans as well. Of course we know all about the three phases of a human life; what we call
the Morning, Childhood,
the Afternoon, Youth,
and the Night, Old Age.
.
.
But in between those phases our experience of life operates in cycles of seed time, harvest and rest and these cycles are only discernable to the err… shall I say discerning?
.
.
They may last for years or months, they do not announce themselves but they exist nonetheless.
.
.
Why should you care? You're probably asking.
.
.
Well, top of my head, because discerning these cycles will save you a lot of heartache, anxiety and depression,
.
.
AND they will ensure you do not, in the words of one of my favorite show, throw away your shot.
.
.
Let's break it down just a little more. Make it personal
.
.
I'm a bit hesitant to do this but I believe that if you could take the time to keep reading up to this point, then you deserve to know a little secret here and there. Just a little.
.
.
Years 2024 & 2025 were together a cycle of intense harvest for me. It seemed like all the good I'd ever done in my life came home to roost.
.
.
There were lots of PR worthy moments.
.
.
I made lots of money,
.
.
Got lots of recognition
.
.
Hit lots of milestones:
.
.
My first paid speaking gig,
My first 7 figures,
My first substantial dollar deal,
I became a gradukoko,
Raised several cohorts of trained believers,
Taught thousands of people how to make money,
And wonder of wonders I even got married.
.
.
Honestly, I feel like I underplay just how much progress I made in just the past 2 years alone. I had so much energy and the returns were proportionally fabulous
.
.
It felt like 10 years compressed into 2 and I was super grateful, I AM super grateful for everything that happened.
.
.
But I think I took for granted that every year was gonna be exactly like those two, so when I entered into 2026 and I just couldn't get myself to dive in to everything, the way I always did, you can imagine my severe CONSTERNATION.
.
.
It felt like absolutely NOTHING was happening. Sometimes it was all I could do just to get out of bed. Not to talk of plotting world domination.
.
.
I'm not gonna lie, it felt super anticlimatic as month 1, 2, 3 passed me by.
.
.
There were no explosive new launches, no announcements or groundbreaking Kuku stunts. It felt like something had died in me.
.
.
Now that I look back over that season, it felt like depression at the time but l realize that it wasn't. It was just a season of homing, a season of silence and rest but because I had assumed that life was supposed to be dialed to the max at ALL TIMES, I couldn't cope.
.
.
I beat myself up, tried to set up routines, I cried to God, even summoned up the energy to try and start some programs. None of those things changed anything.
.
.
I kept asking myself if I'd gone back to my lazy ways, if I am a fraud motivating others but not being able to follow through, plus I was in financial danger because I didn't know to prepare for times such as this.
.
.
Thankfully, as time went on, and with the help of my mentor and husband, things began to balance up in my head and I finally began to see what I should have clocked earlier. It was a season of rest and reset.
.
.
Since 2022, I've been living in a marathon.
.
.
2022 -2023 was a year of massive discovery, of clarity, knowledge, and rebuilding broken down walls, reinventing myself and bringing others along on that journey.
.
.
2024 was a year of Experimentation and service
.
.
Which led to 2025, Harvest! Scrumdiliyumyum! Glamorous!
.
.
But life has a balance and when you've pushed yourself the way I did through all those years, it was no wonder God said, “oya come and sit down”.
.
.
So I sat.
.
.
I've been reading fiction, non fiction and most importantly scriptures,
I've been studying
I've been praying
And I've been eating and sleeping
.
.
In case you're wondering what Kuku has been doing in her season of silence.
.
.
It has not been easy because sitting still when you have learned to put your value in how much you accomplish is basically torture.
.
.
But the more I gave into it, the more peace I have found, and in the midst of the quiet, I can hear God speak and he's telling me all the cool stuff we will do together in the next level.
.
.
He is reminding me of my purpose and his provision for it,
.
.
He is pumping a new reserve of strength into my depleted soul.
.
.
And very important, he is weaning me off finding my validation in my achievements.
.
.
Consequently, my heart is able to receive and interpret a new set of marching orders. And the cycle is turning into a new season of planting.
.
.
What is my point here?
.
.
Learn to discern and MAXIMIZE your seasons.
.
.
If you LAZE about in your season of planting, you will have nothing to harvest when harvest time comes around. And if you push yourself to keep charging ahead when you should be resting, well here comes Mr and Mrs Burnoutkoko
.
.
Never compare yourself to others because you do not know what season they are in.
.
.
If you put Planter Kuku beside Harvester Kuku, and Resting Kuku, you'd call one cursed to labor without recompense, you'd praise another for being so blessed and you'd scold the last for being lazy.
.
.
Just maybe you'd be wrong about all three.
.
.
Work HARD. I know there's a very nice sounding statement that people spread around these days, “work SMART not HARD”. While it sounds logical, it's flawed. Smart and hard are not opposites.
.
.
Treating them as such is what leads to cutting corners because you think as long as you're smart, you don't have to be diligent and that's stupid.
.
.
The smartest people work the hardest because they're smart enough to realize that the work needs to be done and it needs to be done well.
.
.
Prepare for the next season.
.
.
For example, in your season of harvest, don't exhaust all you bring in, keep some aside for your rest season when you cannot bring in new things.
I could say a lot more but I think a wise is enough for a… I mean a wise is for a… umm, a word is wise enough… you get the point.
.
.
Take some time out to figure out what season you may be in.
.
.
Perhaps I will explain how to discern which one you're in,
.
.
May in the next one. Maybe not, But if you figured it out already from this one, I'd love to hear about it in the comments.
.
.
Thank you for reading.
